InstruCalc 10 Calculates the size of:

Comprising over 74 programs categorized into four primary sections, as detailed in the subsequent pages, it utilizes InstruCalc for the sizing of over 50 distinct instruments. This user-friendly and precise sizing program not only computes dimensions for control valves, flow elements, and relief devices but also generates data sheets for the determined parameters.

Updates and What's New in InstruCalc 10

Engineering Standard Upgrades

Control Valve Revisions:

  • Updated to ANSII/ISA 75.011.01-2012
  • Calculation accuracy changed for critical flows
  • Viscosity correction factor changed
  • Pressure drop calculation revised to agree with Crane Technical paper No 410.
  • Option of Cv Units (English) or Kv units (Metric) added.
  • Option of either, aerodynamic noise calculation by ISA 75.17 method or InstruCalc method
  • Calculation accuracy added (input data within acceptable limits.

Relief Devices:

  • Pressure Relief Devices Program follows API 520 Pt 1, 9th edition dated 7/14

Operational Improvements:

  • Added the ability to have more than one calculation at a time. Each instance of the program is framed in a different colour. The user can have multiple "what if" scenarios displayed for making engineering decisions.

Process (Engineering) Data Calculations

Is a set of programs that determines line pressure drops for gas and liquids, a water hammer program for determining closing times for valves in long liquid filled lines, and process data programs for liquid and gas that will provide process data from the data bank at the pressure and temperature entered.

Relief Devices for pressure-relief devices

Rupture discs, and breather valves. Liquid and gas application.

Calculates API or ASME size for known flow

Thermal expansion, and external fire. The external fire program has the option of either the API or the NFPA heat input methods.

Control Valve Sizing Programs

For liquid, gas, steam, and two-phase flow using the ISA formulas.

Flow Element Sizing Programs

Calculations for flow meters such as Integral Flow Orifice Assembly, Annubar Pitot tubes, Vortex Flowmeters, Rotameters andmeters for gas or liquid.
